Park(ing) Day 2022

Details for Park(ing) Day 2022 will be posted once available. Currently, firms have the opportunity to partner in supporting Park(ing) Day 2022. With your sponsorship, the firm will help make student’s designs a reality and allow you to be an advocate for Landscape Architecture in the State of Iowa. Attendance by representatives of each sponsoring firm is encouraged. Each parklet will include signage with sponsor’s listed as well as posts to the Iowa ASLA and ASLA National social media accounts tagging your firm when doing so. To make this event more about the student designs and less about the sponsoring firms, we do not plan on firms taking ownership over any specific designs or installations.

In 2021 the ASLA Iowa Chapter continued this Park(ing) Day partnership with Iowa State University. The Chapter funded the construction of 6 parklets in downtown Ames, which were constructed on September 17, 2021. These were completed as part of the LA 301 curriculum.

The students enjoyed working with reviewers on their designs ahead of the construction on the afternoon of Wednesday, September 8, 2021 in the King Pavilion of the College of Design. An opportunity to participate as a reviewer will again be possible in 2022.
